How to Incorporate Family Crests into your Wedding Decorations
The union of two families through marriage can be even more special if you utilize family crests or seals in your decorating. You do not have to use them in every area of your ceremony and reception but by utilizing them in a few key areas you should be able to show your family pride without overwhelming your guests.
Invitations and wedding programs
Printed invitations can be an ideal way to use your family crest. You may want to contact a company that can research your family’s coat of arms so that you know you are using the right crest for your family. You may want to look for the coats of arms for both families and use them instead of flowers or other decorations at the top of your invitations. Many couples also provide their guests with printed wedding programs that outline the details of the service. Using your family coat of arms or crest on this document can also be a wonderful way of showing the union of two families.
Favors and wedding gifts
If you are looking for favors to hand out to your guests, you may want to look at items that can display the family crests of one or both of your families. You may choose to print your crests on wine labels or on table place cards or find ways of working them into the favors in other ways. You may want to find out what the engraved version of your crest looks like. An engraved version may have specific patterns that denote what the colored areas are. These can look wonderful if they are placed on key chains or other metal objects.

Several coats of arms may have been issued to different branches of a particular family and so sorting out which one applies to you is essential.

The last thing you want is for the gifts that you have handed out to break or become unusable shortly after they have been handed out. By ensuring you work with the right company it will be easy for you to illustrate the pride you have for your ancestry on the most important day of your life.
